TSM Travel: Weekend getaway to the Keukenhof flower fields in Holland

I’ve been feeling slightly homesick recently (When it snowed a few weeks ago mid April, I cracked it and was really ready to call it quits) but the tail end of April has redeemed itself with the temperature hitting 20 degrees today and for the first time in 6 months, I contemplated leaving my black opaque tights at home (I chickened out last minute for fear of OESK – over eager skin exposure). Many of my friends from Australia are visiting and travelling Europe which has made the weeks fly by so much faster and it always helps to have company and that little piece of home over here.

Crashing our friends’ honeymoon, a group of us hopped on a quick 45 minute flight to Amsterdam over the weekend to relax, ride our bikes through the picturesque canals of Holland and one of the highlights of the weekend was visiting the Keukenhauf Tulip Festival. Did I hear you just yawn? Well, I know it doesn’t sound like the most exciting thing to do overseas but  I actually had it on my ‘Amsterdam to do’ list given the festival only runs from March to May each year and Holland is famous for their tulip fields (amongst other things!) and tulips are one of my favourite flowers.

Sure, there was a moment’s hesitation when we rocked up to the entrance of the flower festival surrounded by at least 20 tour buses full of more mature aged visitors but as soon as we started wandering through the park with our freshly made StroopWaffels and hotdogs, we became mesmerised by the sea of such vibrant and beautiful colours…

The tulips above were so unique; they looked like tulips made out of frayed fabric! I love vibrant colours – they bring such a sense of happiness and life to pictures and I found a lot of inspiration for my wardrobe from these colours.

T-Styled Me: Seasons Greetings! All I want for Christmas is …

… to spend it with people who mean the world to me. I’m not in Australia to spend it with my family this year but I am spending quality time with very close friends in Los Angeles who are my fam fam and that’s really all I wanted :) What I hope to get for Christmas this year, well that’s different story. It start with an ‘i’ and ends with a ‘pad’ … What Christmas presents are you hoping for this year?

I do want to wish you all a very Merry and safe Christmas (happy holidays!). Thanks for reading this blog and for all your support. I would love to hear from you in the new year and if you want to book a styling session in the new year please contact me via email (tstyledme@gmail.com) or a PM on my FB page. It’s a great way to get your wardrobe organised for the new year for a fresh start!

T-Styled Me’s Insta Tumblr Round up: Christmas Party Season starts!

What Christmas parties are you attending this year? My work is hosting quiet drinks and nibbles at the local pub while my friend’s workplace’s Christmas party (which took place this weekend) involved everyone turning up at the airport with their passports for a surprise weekend getaway to an undisclosed European city. The work Christmas party in a totally different country. Can you beat that?!

I’ve always secretly thought Christmas jumpers are awesome and have been trying to convince my bf to wear them for the past two years in London given that there’d be only zero chance he’d wear one in an Australian Summer Christmas. It’s daggy but I’ve loved them every since seeing Mr Darcy in that reindeer jumper in Bridget Jones (Love that movie!). Christmas jumper sales are definitely up this year, especially at Primark, given my friends hosted a Christmas house party with a ‘Christmas-y’ dress up theme on the weekend.

Reindeer Xmas Jumper from Primark – £12 that I couldn’t get my hands on so I dressed up as a reindeer / elf instead :)

My bf dressed up as Santa and my friends and I were the reindeers. Jumper, G’s Onsie and Reindeer ears all from Primark

Outfit of the day: Trying my very hardest not to succumb to the sea of Black that is Winter by brightening things up with vibrant colours – Skirt & Top from H&M

My two favourite dressed celebrities this week:

Photo reblogged from my tumblr: I am loving floral blazers at the moment even though the weather here resembles anything but Spring time.

Photo reblogged from my tumblr: Miranda Kerr always gets it right every time she steps out the door but I particularly love this look because she’s in an outfit that anyone can emulate using high end brands and it’s a sensible outfit that you can imagine yourself comfortably wearing (or at least I can!)

Have a great week guys and I hope you’re getting into the festive season in one way or another. Not long to go!

TSM Outfit post: A Heston Dinner Date in Printed Silk Trousers

They say that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and I’m inclined to think this certainly is the case with my boyfriend. While I’d prefer to spend discretionary funds on clothes and jewellery, my boyfriend’s preference would be to spend it on trialling different restaurants and dining at Michelin starred restaurants so when our anniversary reared its head a few weeks ago, I knew that the usual photo collages, cufflinks and scrapbooks that worked in previous years wouldn’t really bring that sparkle to his eyes the way that a surprise dining experience at Heston’s second Michelin starred restaurant, Dinner at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel, would so I booked in date night a few months in advance.

We had the fortune of eating at Heston’s 3 Michelin starred restaurant ‘Fat Duck’ earlier in the year and were keen to compare it to ‘Dinner’ ever since it’s highly anticipated opening in 2011. Dinner’s menu is based on Heston’s ‘Feast’ series with each dish on the menu was referenced to a historic time period and was inspired by cooking methods and recipes found from the archives of the British Library.

While the mains missed the wow factor for me (we chose steak and the fish), we both agreed that meat fruit and the tipsy pineapple cake (that I kept incorrectly calling the Tipple cake) were the main stars of the ‘Dinner’ Show:

Looks like a real mandarin doesn’t it? The meat fruit (chicken parfait)’s resemblance to the fruit was extremely impressive and we were equally satisfied with the light, creamy feathery texture once we cut into it and I loved the slightly citric tang from the mandarin jelly exterior with the grilled sourdough toast.

I was advised by a work colleague to order the signature pineapple tipsy cake well in advance (it takes 40 mins to prepare) and to definitely share it with someone because of it’s rich texture. Sharing? Biggest mistake of my night. I loved loved loved the rich cream filled brioche that had be baked and basted in sugar syrup that I really could have easily finished it off by myself. It can only be described as heaven in your mouth sprinkled with just the right amount of sweetness. The side pineapple slice spit roasted to provide a fruity grilled contrast and was the perfect accompaniment to the cake. One of the best desserts I have ever tasted! Continue reading

TSM iPhone Snap: Shopping in London this weekend. Lovin the old school perfume bottles from Anthropologie – Does anyone know how you’re meant to transfer your perfume into those bottles though?

TSM instagram: Not sure if they have these in Oz but I love the Vaseline range in London. They’re always bringing out special edition flavours like Creme Brulee and this new one Pink bubbly Champagne flavour. I have the green Aloe Vera on my bedside table and I love the smell (and price!)

Reblogged from Tumblr: These Martin Margiela shoes cost $660 USD. I just had to include this pic to make you laugh – Is it me or does anyone else think it’s ridiculous to voluntarily spend money to achieve camel toe?

T-Styled Me’s Insta-Tumblr Round-up!

I’m sorry for being MIA over the past week. After being on ‘holidays’ for the past two months, I started a new job last week which I guess is great because I can pay the bills and rent (you know, minor details!) but the downside of starting this new job is that I’ve received a very short handover so the job is now totes busting my chops hence the scarce blog entries but please bear with me over the next few weeks. I promise to answers all your questions and please do keep sending them through! I love reading them :)

My top 5 pics from my tumblr and Instagram (@tstyledme)

I love living in London, loved every minute of New York, always buy something special from Paris and LA is where my friend Chai lives and I can’t wait to go visit her one day!

Reblogged from Tumblr: Feels like I haven’t been shopping in AGES! Loving this top from Zara – gorgeous x

TSM instagram: Casual Fridays – Bike riding after work in my Chanel flats (which are a lil dirty eek!). London have these Barclay Bikes stationed all around the city and the costs £1 to hire and the first 1/2 hr ride is free so we’ve been taking advantage of the late Summer weather and riding around town.

Can’t believe it’s SEPTEMBER! What the …! How did that happen?
